Since I essentially live in a bachelor pad with the BF and Wonder Dog, I have to voice my decorating style on the sly. Slowly, I have been sneaking the lime green and sunshine yellow on the walls, transforming the BF’s brown-on-boring house into one of my budget coastal design. After scouring the Pottery Barn catalogue for ideas, I went to IKEA and stocked up on jars, vases, and candles. I’m not an interior designer by any stretch of the imagination, but I thought these beachy accents made a huge improvement in the home.

To disguise the ugly glass table lamp, I added a few jars stuffed with sea shells

June is winding down and with that comes my favorite time of year, two weeks of tennis bliss, the Wimbledon Championships. I can not resist watching the splendor at the All England Club. I love the beautiful green courts, tennis whites, and the Ralph Lauren clad umpires. This year we have already been treated to a visit by the Queen and the perseverance of John Isner and Nicolas Mahut as they battled it out in the longest tennis match in history.
Style Snaps to the following players:
- Serena Williams: simply yummy in her Nike Strawberries and Cream tennis dress
- Venus Williams: aka Miss Tina Turner
- Maria Sharapova: my style favorite for her beautiful Nike Rose Petal dress
And finally if you are new to tennis, here are a few terms to keep you abreast on the matches:
- Ace: When the tennis ball is served and not touched by the receiver, usually happens in the blink of an eye
- Advantage: If a player wins the point from a deuce and requires one more point to win the game. It shows up as Ad:player on the scoreboard
- Break: When the receiving player wins a game.
- Deuce: The score is tied, 40–40
- Forced Error: If the opponent hits a challenging shot forcing the receiving player to miss the ball.
Next week, I hope to watch Venus and Rafi win this year’s championship.

The Preppy Life was recognized by Washington Life Magazine in their hilarious Society2.0 feature. I had one of the top tweets of the week for my musings on neti pots.
@thepreppylife : Mr. Neti Pot is now sending me tweets, a little scary to receive messages from a little plastic nose teapot.
I had no idea I was so witty ; )

Sitting on the beach today, I witnessed an amazing sight, a woman who loved her job. I was seriously in awe. First of all, it was one of my highschool dream jobs, a Surf Patrol lifeguard. These are the lucky lifeguards who watch the surfers all day. Second of all, she was at least 45 years old. I overhead her say that “she loved her job” and you could tell. She exuded joy and happiness all day long. I am so jealous. So cheers to the women out there who actually obtain their dream jobs. May we be all be able to achieve our goals.

The countdown has begun, one day left until Father’s Day. Strangely, I have been very organized the past few days and already purchased a baby blue striped polo from the Under Armour outlet for my Dad. If you are still in the hunt for the perfect Father’s Day gift here are a few ideas.
- Baseball Tickets – a great way to spend some time with your Dad this summer
- A BBQ Basket – steaks, hamburgers, BBQ sauce, whatever – just make sure you keep it refrigerated.
- Polo Shirt – you can never have enough!
- A nice bottle of Scotch
- A Dart Board – for hours of mindless fun
- Franklin + Gower Customized shorts – for the stylish Dad, they are worth the wait
- Golf Balls
- Vineyard Vines Belt – the essence of preppy
I hope you and your family have a very nice Father’s Day!
