Looking for some last minute Halloween decorations? Here are a few easy ideas to haunt your house. Rummage around your kitchen, get out your squash. All you need is a bag of spider webs, a couple of candles, and a few winter vegetables and you are ready to spook.

I want to find a good winter coat (i.e. warm, but tasteful). I have the wool trenches & the cute peacoats, but I need a cute, preppy coat that can help me through the biting Minnesota winters. What are some brands I might look at? I love Burberry, but it’s a bit out of my college student price range!

Those Minnesota winters sound rough. I know what you mean about Burberry, my mom snagged me one of their trenches at a Nordstrom sale–I was in debt for a year, LOL. J. Crew has a more affordable trench that looks pretty warm. I have always been a fan of J. Crew for stylish winter coats. Keep your eye on their web site, they have a lot of outerwear sales. I love their Long Meribel Puffer, a cute down coat with a belted waist.

This year camel is the “in” color and I couldn’t be more excited. Camel is a great neutral that hides the stains and goes with everything. Look for coats with tassels and fun linings or details. I like Eddie Bauer’s Duffel Coat. I also LOVE white winter coats. Be careful where you wear them, but they are so stylish and chic.

For snow storms you can’t beat North Face coats and vests. They are so preppy and can handle anything Mother Nature throws at you!

If you have a Loehmann’s nearby, I recommend coat shopping there. They usually have a huge selection of designer outerwear at heavily discounted prices.

Try prep-ing up your older coats with winter accessories like colorful wool scarves, hats, and mittens. Mittens on strings worn around your neck are the “it” prep accessory this year.

With much sadness in my heart, the BF, the dogs, and I crammed into my car on Friday to drive to Ocean City, MD for one final beach weekend. I love October in Ocean City, no crowds and dogs are allowed on the beach. Mr. Ranger and Miss Penny spent hours frolicking in the sand. However, as much as I enjoy the off season, I hate to see the end of the warm weather.

Outlet Shopping:
Of course, we had to go to the Rehoboth Outlets, three massive shopping centers featuring tax free shopping…I love Delaware.  As usual, J. Crew was super crowded, however; I managed to purchase a beautiful gray, ruffled sweater and a pair of matchstick jeans. After missing out on running this year’s Baltimore Marathon, the BF and I stocked up on winter running gear from Nike and Under Armour. Next year, no excuses. And finally I “picked out” a hot pink handbag from Coach that was hiding on the clearance table–a future Christmas present from my parents. I also stopped by Kate Spade, Lennox, Brooks Brothers, and White House Black Market.

October is an “R” Month
The best part of the trip; oysters are finally in season. My dad bought a peck in Cambridge on the way down and BF bought 4 dozen driving home, so good!

Today, the Baltimore Sun compiled a list of “Baltimore’s Top 50 Watering Holes,” a great compilation, representing many facets of Baltimore bars from corner dives to chic clubs. However, I noticed a few bastions of prepdom did not make the list.

  The place to mingle before and after baseball games.

• Bo Brooks Krab Kove – 2780 Lighthouse Point
  a.k.a. the Tiki Lounge
• The Wharf Rat – 801 S. Ann St.
  A laid back watering hole with good beer that resembles the inside of a ship.

  The funnest place to watch the Ravens if you don’t have tickets for the game.

  Yes, I know it’s in Towson but I couldn’t leave it off the list
