Ignoring my instincts, I went to Jiffy Lube this morning for an oil change. In and out in 10 minutes, it was great! I got on the highway to head back to the city when I heard a loud crashing noise emanating from beneath my car. F&$%!

I pulled over to discover the bottom casing of my car had fallen out. However, Fate was smiling at me. The pickup truck behind me also pulled over and its driver happened to be the owner of a tow truck company. He quickly pieced my broken car back together and escorted me to Jiffy Lube. Since Jiffy Lube said they were not responsible, the man kindly offered to fix my car himself.

With an unusual amount of blind faith I followed the man to his shop and watched as he screwed a few bolts into my car. He said normally when he tries to help people, they are too scared to get out of their car. That left me wondering, is our society so crime-ridden that we are scared to accept help from a Good Samaritan? I was fortunate to meet a kind gentleman on the road but even as I followed behind him, I found myself calling my boyfriend giving him a blow-by-blow of my location.

Needless to say, I was lucky. I am perfectly safe and my car is bolted back together. If it wasn’t for my Good Samaritan, I would have been stranded on the side of the road on a hot day. In gratitude, I promised to design a logo for his business. My friend said “it may have been his lucky day as well.” ; )

May we all have angels standing by.

Angel with a Pick Up Truck none

About two months ago I put my boyfriend on a cleaning schedule. Goal: to have the entire house painted and cleaned in time for a bachelorette party. Then my allergies hit, which would have been ok, except one of my medications turned me into a grouchy 85 year old lady. It’s out of my system now and the cleaning madness has begun. My BF and I have painted 2 rooms and have 2 more to go. With a little more than a week left, the Easter holiday, and a boatload of grad school work ahead of me, ugh, let the games begin!

A little background information:
Last November the BF decided to build a second bathroom in place of a giant closet (saving that for another post). In the process, he tore holes into every wall and I discovered I am allergic to dust and mold. Yay!

In the meantime, where do we put all of the stuff that once lived in the closet? Witness a house in transition.

Hole in the kitchen

One of the many holes, this one is in the kitchen

messy corner

The pipes are covered, but where did all of this stuff come from?

As you can see, I have a lot of work ahead of me. Wish me luck on this week’s clean-a-thon.

puppy in the hallway

My favorite room, a freshly painted hallway. Now I just need to rip out that hideous carpet ; )

Spring Cleaning none

Got a little bogged down with the end of semester school work and had to take an unplanned hiatus….but now I’m back in action. Between Thanksgiving, holiday parties, work, and taking care of a big dog, things get a little crazy. Happy Holidays!

and I’m Back none
