The dress, the ceremony, the kisses, such a magical day full of tradition and celebration. A fairy tale wedding for Kate and Princess Diana’s oldest son. Who thought this day would ever come. The Queen, looking splendid in yellow, bestowed the couple the titles: William, Duke of Cambridge and Catherine, Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge.

A Royal Kiss - Footage from NBC
A beautiful ceremony at Westminster Abbey, the church was filled with flowers. The Duchess looked simply regal wearing a classic 1950s-inspired gown designed by Sarah Burton, sure to be copied for years to come. And as always William looked dashing in his red military jacket. After the ceremony, the newlyweds proceeded to Buckingham Palace to say hello to their adoring fans and attend a reception hosted by the Queen.
Though just watching from my 2 TVs ( DVRed coverage on TLC, BBC, and NBC) it was wonderful to see the festivities taking place around London today. I wish I could have been there! I must commend NBC and Matt, Meredith, and Anne for the great coverage.

If you have a question for the Preppy Girl email it to me at preppygirl@thepreppylife.com.
Dear Preppy Girl,
This may sound a bit weird but I want some contact with the preppy scene. I think I’m kind of preppy, but I don’t really know anyone who is preppy like me. Is it alright to talk to someone totally strange just because he or she is preppy and you want to have some preppy friends? And what should I say…”Hey, are you preppy?”
- Your Lonely Preppy Friend
Dear Lonely Prep,
Smile and good things will come your way. I am sorry to hear about your dilemma. I suggest joining some new activities. If you like sports, try out for a rec council or school field hockey or lacrosse team. Join some clubs that interest you such as photography, yoga, gardening, running or dancing. Or even try volunteering at a local nursing home or animal rescue. By trying some new activities, you are sure to meet some new people that share your preppy interests.
I don’t recommend asking a prep if they are preppy, they might get offended. I suggest complementing a fellow prep on their cute shirt or tote bag, and asking them where they got it. That is a good way to strike up a conversation. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Best!

Weeks of cloudy gray skies have taken their toll…And now with a wave of her magic wand, Spring saunters in her pink and green glory. It really is the preppiest of seasons. Along with the dreaded spring cleaning, (Mr. Ranger has already filled one vacuum bag from shedding) I have made a few extra Spring resolutions:
- Take time each day to appreciate Mother Nature
- Get my thesis topic approved!!!
- Stop worrying (or at least try)
- Clean out my closets
- Start my rooftop vegetable garden
- Now that the days are longer, fit in more time for exercise.
- Finally, write more blog posts!
So what are yours? ; )

Hallo Preppy Majesty,
Please just let me begin with the very common: I love your blog! It is helpful and not trashy. The preppy lifestyle is hard to master, and you make that far more simple. But I would love to know: Can Irish step dancing be considered preppy? I am really not interested in lacrosse or tennis, and I am Irish-American. If Irish Dancing isn’t, than what type of dancing is? Is dancing at all?
Thanks!
Doomed for Dance
Dear Doomed for Danced,
Thank you for your kind comments about the blog, I am glad you like it. Hearing from readers like yourself makes blogging very rewarding. I think Irish dancing can be preppy, as long as you enjoy doing it. Its great that you can keep your heritage alive though dancing. Dancing is a preppy pastime, its fun, social, gets your heart pumping, and its actually good for you! As an added bonus you can meet lots of cute guys. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Best!
