Fool in the Rain

fool in the rain
I know its been like 2 years (ok, maybe 3). You may have been wondering what I have been doing instead of blogging. I have been running, strength training, and running a lot more. Maybe I was running away from things but during my last marathon I really had one overall goal in mind: Boston. Did I qualify? Yes, it was a test of mind over body. I think I can, I think I can. The mind won, but the hamstrings had the creepy last laugh. Did I get into the 2016 race? No. I received one of the dreaded “regrettably, we are unable to accept your application due to field size limitations…” emails.

This is the soul crushing message I have been dreading since the day I got my BQ time at Philly. For the past two days I have been moping and pondering the 60 seconds or the snack break that separated me from the Boston racers. Today after a morning cry, I had an epiphany, Disney! Disney was number one on my AQ (After Qualifying) list. Through some fierce stroke of luck, the Disney Marathon on January 10th has a few spaces left.

I’m 2 weeks behind on the training schedule but that’s ok because I’m running Disney for fun and Mickey selfies. Boston will have to wait.

I put on my favorite lulus and stepped out from under my personal black cloud to run 9 miles in the pouring rain.
