So the stars aligned the weekend of the bachelorette party. The weather was wonderful, the food was good, and the BF was a saint, helping me prepare for the party. The girls came over for cocktails followed by dinner at a local restaurant and dancing at the grooviest of watering holes.

The House:

The BF and I finished our “chores” not a moment too soon. The walls were patched and the hallway, kitchen, and bathroom were painted. The morning of the party, I perfected my cosmo recipe–citron vodka, cranberry, lime juice & triple sec–and tasted the hors d’oeuvres. In the afternoon we hung pink and black streamers and strung white lights around the downstairs. The tables were decorated with candles, tiaras, pink satin, and bridal trivia games, a great conversation starter.

The Bacherlorette Party

Last Minute Clean-Up

Guests were greeted with the music of Jack Johnson, Jimmy Buffet, and Abba, a perfect way to set the tone of the night. Everyone signed a photo frame for the bride-to-be, as a keepsake of the evening. And for the bacherlorette party guests, I put my degree in art to use; I painted pink and white polka-dot wine glasses; personalizing each glass with hearts, diamond rings, and the bride’s wedding date.

It wasn’t a weekend in Vegas, but a damn good time was had by all.

About two months ago I put my boyfriend on a cleaning schedule. Goal: to have the entire house painted and cleaned in time for a bachelorette party. Then my allergies hit, which would have been ok, except one of my medications turned me into a grouchy 85 year old lady. It’s out of my system now and the cleaning madness has begun. My BF and I have painted 2 rooms and have 2 more to go. With a little more than a week left, the Easter holiday, and a boatload of grad school work ahead of me, ugh, let the games begin!

A little background information:
Last November the BF decided to build a second bathroom in place of a giant closet (saving that for another post). In the process, he tore holes into every wall and I discovered I am allergic to dust and mold. Yay!

In the meantime, where do we put all of the stuff that once lived in the closet? Witness a house in transition.

One of the many holes, this one is in the kitchen

messy corner

The pipes are covered, but where did all of this stuff come from?

As you can see, I have a lot of work ahead of me. Wish me luck on this week’s clean-a-thon.

My favorite room, a freshly painted hallway. Now I just need to rip out that hideous carpet ; )
