Hi Kinda Goth,
Thanks for your comment! I think its perfectly cool to mix styles. I have seen many cool kids pull of this look, emo or goth makeup and spiked hair paired with a plaid shirt and skinny jeans. I would steer clear of the pastels and go for bolder colors to really emphasize the contrasting styles. For NYE I paired a red plaid shirt and black mini skirt with a big chunky black chain link necklace. I thought it was pretty badass. Unfortunately, I'm a little too old to sport the emo look, but don't let hold you back!

Dear Preppy Girl,

First off, I want to thank you for making this website; it is very helpful. I would like to ask about mixing styles. I am very drawn to dark styles such as "emo" and "goth," yet the preppy style is something I have been striving for this year. Is it appropriate to have "emo" hair and makeup at the same time as wearing polos and such? Quite a few girls in my school do this and it's kinda cute. What is your opinion on this matter, and also would you try this?

Thank you!
- Kinda Goth

Hey, I wanted to let you all know that I've taken ona partner, Keith Zotti ... AND ... opened a new retail store and on-line shop. The retail store is in the riverside town of Historic Port Deposit at 20 South Main Street. We are in a building that had been empty that we thought we could helps save with a little luck & love. Come see us! Our website is still the same www.ApothecarieCompany.com but now with direct ecommerce so we get the orders right on our phones! Thanks for all of your support! Best, Heather
